Department of Financial Sector Development (DFSD) aims to work nationally and internationally on different contemporary issues related to banking, insurance, and other financial sectors. It consists of renowned experts of financial sector of Nepal.   Conducting research, seminars, webinars, surveys, trainings, consultant work related to BFIs with the involvement of national and international scholars are the major activities of the department.

The main goal of the department is to find ways of lubricating Nepalese financial sector in the path of sustainable development.

The role and scope of DFSD includes but not limited to the following areas:

• Assist government as well as NGOs for formulating financial sector related policies.
• Field based survey on the effectiveness of projects/programs launched by the government bodies.
• Collaboration with NGOs and INGOs for conducting financial sector related research works.
• Promote awareness campaign related to financial literacy and insurance.
• Yearly update of the determinants of financial sector development.
